The City of Troy, in partnership with the Troy Development Council, will host an entire week of business events and meetings for a delegation of South Korean business leaders interested in expanding their presence into the U. S. and specifically into the Troy and west central Ohio region. This trip to Troy is the result of over six months of negotiations following a similar visit to Troy in October of 2008. Troy has worked closely with Mr. Bill Hohmann, a principal with the law firm of Hohmann, Boukis and Curtis in Cleveland as well as Mr. Paul Kwak, a Korean business executive residing in Cleveland to facilitate contacts with the Korean business community. The Global Network Foundation, a Korean business association under the leadership of chief director Ms.Tae Hee Kim and Mr. Sonny Jeon, CEO of Nano International Technology, in turn, worked closely with the U. S. contingent to facilitate coordination of the Korean Business leaders participating in this very important series of meetings in Troy.
An extensive schedule of group and individual meetings will be conducted throughout the week beginning with the groupıs arrival on Monday evening. The group will visit several area businesses throughout the week including; Hobart Corporation, RevWires, Hobart Brothers, Motoman, Dayton Phoenix and Glawe Manufacturing in Fairborn. In addition, sessions with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, University of Dayton Research Institute, DaytaOhio and Wright State University Research Institute will provide in-depth business research data regarding the Troy area.
Several luncheons and dinner meetings are also on the itinerary including a Tuesday session where the Korean delegation will provide a series of presentations on their individual companies and the products and services they hope to market in the U. S. On Wednesday evening a dinner meeting will provide an opportunity for the delegation to network with Troy area business leaders and government officials. Finally, on Thursday the formal program will conclude with a luncheon which will feature a panel discussion on Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the impact of the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) process that will bring over one thousand new jobs to the area and the ultimate impact on our local economy. The panel includes; Colonel (Ret.) Colleen Ryan, former Base Commander; Donald Rice, Senior Director, Business Development. General Dynamics; Dr. Robert Calico, Senior Executive Services (Ret.) and former Dean of Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology. Dan Curtis, President of Curtis Consulting, will moderate the panel discussion. Following the luncheon, a special program will be held to address ıHow to do Business with the U. S. Militaryı.
This last session is also open to local business leaders interested in doing business with
the U. S. military.
